Media

Game media consists of the images used to represent your game on Board Game Arena, separate from the artwork used within the game itself.

Name Example Description
Box Box
  • Required for public alpha
  • PNG
  • It is displayed on the main site on the game description page and when creating a table (280x280 px).
  • It should be a 3D image of a physical copy of the game box as it appears in an online shop.
  • Prefer an image of the original publisher’s version of the game that matches the artwork used in the adaptation.
  • The image must have a transparent background and no shadow.
  • If you don't have a 3D version of the game box, you can use the following website to create one: https://boxshot.com/3d-box/
  • On Studio, you can only have one box image. Once deployed, you can have a different box image for each language. This allows you to provide a localised image if you wish. If you don't provide a localised image, users will see the English box as a fallback.
Icon Icon
  • Required for public alpha
  • PNG
  • It is the icon displayed in the lists of games and tables (50x50 px).
  • The purpose of this icon is to make the game recognizable among other games. Use a distinctive part of the game cover (for example, the game title).
  • This image does not have to be transparent. It should not have a border.
Title Title
  • Required for beta
  • PNG
  • Maximum size: 2 MB
  • This image is displayed in place of the game’s name as text.
  • Must be 2000 × 2000 px.
  • Must look good when overlaid on the game banner and must have a transparent background.
  • On Studio, you can only have one title image. Once deployed, you can have a different title image for each language. This allows you to provide a localised image if you wish (for example, "Stone Age" vs "L'Âge de Pierre"). If you don't provide a localised image, users will see the English title as a fallback. In this case, if the localised name differs from English, there will also be a subtitle showing the game's name in the user's locale.

For guidelines on positioning the title elements, see Media:Title_guidelines.png.

Publisher -
  • Optional (if there is no publisher)
  • PNG
  • Maximum size: 2 MB
  • It is the logo of the publisher of the game, displayed on the game description page.
  • Must be 280 × 280 px.
  • The image can be transparent.
Banner Banner
  • Required for beta
  • JPG
  • Maximum size: 2 MB
  • Dimensions: 1386 × 400 px
  • Should not contain any text. Use an image that captures the atmosphere of the game, such as part of the cover or a promotional image. The box image overlaid on the left of the banner should stand out, and the title should be readable when placed over the banner.
Display -
  • Required for release
  • JPG
  • Height: between 400 and 760 px. Width: at most 1.5 times the height.
  • These images are displayed in a carousel on the game page.
  • The aim is to make players want to play the game. Images could show a close-up of a card, a detail of the board, or an overview of a physical game in progress. Do not use screenshots of the BGA adaptation, as the "see game in action" replay already serves that purpose.
  • You can have up to 10 display images.
